Have You Considered Eternal Life Insurance?

People paid billions of pounds and dollars yearly to insure their home, their health, cars, even pets, and of course, more importantly, to protect against their loved ones in case of sudden death, which is called the life insurance or life cover. The insurance policy holders must work hard to be able to continue to service these policies. While do people have to work so hard to pay so much? Because they want to be secure in every sense of it especially in the world full of uncertainties. Have you ever sat down and penned down how much of your earnings that go into insurance policies? I’m sure you wouldn’t believe it.

Is there anything more crucial to consider?
People say life is short, so let us live and enjoy our lives! They are right life is short indeed in comparison to eternity, but do people think about the reality of brevity of life. When they say ‘let us live and enjoy our lives’, I really wonder I much we can truly get out of it without the one who designed it. I like the way C.S. Lewis put it, ‘God made us: invented us as a man invents an engine. A car is made to run on petrol, and it would not run properly on anything else. Now God designed the human machine to run on Himself.’ That’s why we spend all our energy seeking pleasure and happiness, yet they continue to elude us. There is something crucial we cannot risk forgetting about who we are as humans. There is a spiritual aspect of you that does not die, that is, your soul. So, please and please never be fooled death is not the end of the human. This brings us to the crux of this matter. If we work so hard to pay to secure what ends with this life here how much more, we will do everything within our power to pay closer attention to think about life after death. Bible we say thing like, ‘For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?’ Matthew.8:36. So you can see clearly here there is something you cannot avoid losing in pursuit of your own pleasure, agenda, or because of unbelief. Your soul does not die; it will stand before God in judgement. Please and please think about it!

Where do you stand?
Bear with me just for a moment and let me ask you again this honest question. Where do you stand in all of these? I know different persons will have different responses to this. For example, someone may say, ‘I know where I stand: I’m not a religious person, and neither do I believe in God’. I also understand wherever you stand regarding God and eternity may have been shaped by your background, exposure, experience and influence. Or may just be something completely personal. However, the question really is how secure are you in that position? Be sure you’ve got the right checklist! Before I take this issue further permit me to share my recent experience. I was also in a place recently, and as l looked around, I saw a leaflet rack with a lot of leaflets hung on it. My eye went straightaway to spot a one titled, ‘Checklist for travellers’. I cannot remember particularly what fascinated me about it, but I find myself picking it up not because I was planning to travel or anything. The second sentence of the first paragraph reads thus, ‘Get a guideline and find out about your destination’. Yes, you may say what’s so special about that. Right, but what struck me from that statement is that even in public opinion you’re not expected to jump to your destination, they expect you to prepare for it and get all the necessary information. Why? Not only for safety purposes but also to be able to get the best. Are you prepared for heavenly journey? Do you belong to the group of people who say ‘Let’s live in the present moment, enjoy ourselves and die and forget about the future, for it doesn’t exist? While there may be some element of sense in that philosophy, you may be taking a massive risk by denying the reality of eternity.

Do you have heaven in view?
How would you respond if someone walked up to you and asked you that question in another way saying, ‘Are you ready to meet with God?’ Somebody said, ‘If you don’t know where you are going any road will get you there’. But you know that’s is not true. You may mean to go to a place in the north, and you are heading in the opposite direction towards the south, I sincerely don’t know how you are going to solve that problem. It sounds like forever! Have you ever gone for a holiday or embarked on a long journey to a distant place? I’m sure you have, but you didn’t jump up from your bed to the road and say, ‘Off I go!’ Did you? I’m sure you did plan and saved towards it so that you don’t run into trouble. I know you’re working very hard. I know you have a big dream and aspiring greatness, or maybe you’re already doing very well. These are great! I love to see people attain great height as much as I do myself, but you know what? There is something so crucial that you cannot risk neglecting. Please hear me out! While it is excellent to pursue your dream and aspiration, it is too risky to do this at the expense of your relationship with God your Creator. Please take a look at this story: ‘And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:16-21. The man’s problem is not just his possessions, but his real problem was that he had no place for God in his heart. He was too busy to have time for God. Does that describe where you are now? Therefore, having heaven in view means making the pursuit of God more important than your personal pursuits.

Let’s run the final check
Do you believe God exists, and that He is your Creator? If the answer is ‘Yes’, then have you committed yourself to Him? You may ask, ‘What do you mean?’ I mean believing or knowing that God exists is not enough. You do need to come to know His love and accept His forgiveness for your sins. I know you’ll ask, ‘What sins? Yes, we have all sinned! ‘for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God’ Romans 3:23 All sins, little or big, violate God’s standards, breaks His commandments, cut us off from the righteous and holy God, and bring us under His judgement. ‘But what about all the good works I have done?’ I’m afraid, none of these can make you right with God. Then here comes my final question!

Would you like to commit yourself to God?

Are you ready to accept God’s offer? Then this is His checklist:

  • You must be honest enough to face the fact that you have violated God’s standard and broken his commandment. You must humbly accept that your good work cannot earn you His righteousness and acceptance and that your only hope is Jesus Christ.
  • You must believe in Jesus Christ. You must believe in Jesus Christ and receive him as your Lord and Saviour. God demonstrated His love towards you and I by sending Jesus to die for us on the cross, not because we were good enough to deserve it, but just because he loved us.’but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.’ Romans 5: 8. Jesus took the full punishment for our sin when he was crucified on the cross. His body was laid in the tomb, and a huge stone rolled to cover the entrance, but on the third day, he rose from the dead. What do you need to about Jesus? ‘. Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth, one confesses and is saved.’ Romans 10:9-10
  • You must receive Jesus Christ into your life. This is a very crucial and final step on God’s checklist that takes you into the long-awaiting life-changing relationship with God. God’s offer of salvation is free, but you must accept it. Are you ready to give Jesus an open invitation? Then this is the moment! ‘..and with the mouth one confesses and is saved’. Please! Don’t let anything hold you back. This is the most significant decision of your life! If you’d like to make this decision to begin a personal relationship with Jesus, then zeal the deal by ticking the last box when you say the prayer below with all your heart.

Lord Jesus, I am sorry for the things I have done wrong in my life. Please forgive me. I now turn from everything that I know is wrong. I believe you died for me on the cross so that I could be forgiven. Please come into my life and be my Lord and Saviour

Congratulations for taking that decision to commit your life to Jesus. We’d like to hear from you, and we’d also like to send a Bible and a book titled ‘Building on the Foundation’ as gifts. Could you please kindly send us your name and address using our contact form?
